Zepbound®

Zepbound contains the same active ingredient, tirzepatide, as Mounjaro®. It is a dual-action GLP-1/GIP receptor agonist, FDA-approved for individuals with a BMI of 30 or higher, or a BMI of 27 or higher along with a weight-related condition, in combination with diet and exercise. Both Zepbound and Wegovy are FDA-approved for weight loss, while Ozempic is FDA-approved for treating type 2 diabetes, though it can be prescribed off-label for weight loss when appropriate.

The primary difference between these medications is their active ingredient. Ozempic and Wegovy contain semaglutide, which activates only the GLP-1 receptor. In contrast, Zepbound uses tirzepatide, which targets both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, aiding in metabolism regulation by making you feel full more quickly and for a longer period of time.
